ISLANDS WITHIN THE ISLAND
Portraits of Life and Belonging on Vancouver Island
IN DEVELOPMENT — Documentary
Islands Within the Island is a creative documentary exploring life and belonging on Vancouver Island through a series of intimate, human-centred portraits. Filmed primarily in the Greater Victoria region, it focuses on the “inner islands” people carry with them — memories, identities, and emotional landscapes that shape their connection to place.
Observational and poetic in tone, the project opens a new chapter in my work rooted in the voices and lived experiences of the Island.
The concept has just been submitted to the Canada Council for the Arts (Research & Creation).

TARŌ SAYS
A Hybrid Journey Through Myth, Memory, and Ice
TARŌ SAYS is a hybrid documentary inspired by the astonishing true story of Tarō Tsujimoto — a Japanese hockey player who never existed yet became a legend. Blending documentary, fiction, and manga-inspired imagery, the film follows Tarō as he narrates his own impossible life across Japan, Buffalo, and the frozen lakes of North America.
Through this playful but deeply human journey, the project explores myth, memory, and the collective imagination that can turn fiction into truth.
